Inspections

Request for Certificate of Occupancy Form

All zoning & building permits require inspections in order to be closed out.  These inspections can be requested by emailing the above form to pzinfo@colchestervt.gov.

Inspections are generally conducted one day per week between 8:00 AM and 3:30 PM. The day of inspections may vary based on staff availability. We generally provide a 1-hour arrival window and do our best to be within that as often as possible. Weather, traffic, or unexpected circumstances may at times impact this. 

Please ensure that the request form is completely filled out. Please specify the building permit number, address, proof of compliance with the Residential/Commercial Building Energy Standards, as well as the name and phone number of the person to be present for the inspection. 

As long as the area to be inspected is external and freely accessible it is not required anyone be present for the inspection. Please ensure any exterior areas to be inspected are free and clear of snow, leaves, etc. If you have any pets, please ensure they are adequately secured.

Please ensure that what was constructed or developed matches exactly what was shown on the plan and listed in the permit approval. Discrepancies will result in delays and may result in additional fees or denial of the Certificate of Occupancy.
