Trustees & Policies
Board of Trustees
The Library Trustees work with the Library Director to determine policies to govern library operations and programs; assist the Town Manager to recruit, interview, and consider candidates for the position of Library Director; maintain an ongoing performance appraisal for the Director with the Town Manager; support the Director in the annual budget presentation at budget hearings; and attend Selectboard meetings as necessary. In addition, the Library Trustees ensure and advocate:
- Collection development
- Long-range library planning
- An active marketing program
- Local, state, and federal library laws and stay informed on pending library legislation
The authority of the Board of Trustees is subject to the Town Charter and must conform to Selectboard policies and directives, as well as policies and procedures of the Town Manager and Town Department Heads.
Member terms end in March in staggered years and there are five member seats. The Library Board of Trustees is an elected board. Members are listed in OnBoard and below. Further information can be obtained by contacting Kelly McCagg, Library Director at 802-264-5661.
The board meets the 3rd Thursday of every month at 4:00pm in the library.
