- Creek Farm Road Bridge Project
The Creek Farm Road Bridge is owned and maintained by the Town of Colchester and provides access over Indian Brook for three residential properties. Creek Farm Road is a dead-end road, with no alternative access. To ensure the ongoing safety of motorists crossing over the Creek Farm Road bridge, the Department of Public Works (DPW) coordinated with the Vermont Agency of Transportation in June 2022 to install a temporary bridge. This was necessary following damage to the abutments from high water due to a beaver dam underneath the bridge and ongoing deterioration of the bridge superstructure.
DPW is working towards a permanent solution for the Creek Farm Road Bridge. We have hired a local engineering consultant to complete the following tasks: survey, base mapping, conceptual designs, alternatives analysis, preliminary design, permitting, right-of-way, utility coordination, final design, construction bid process, and construction oversight. We are in the beginning stages of this process and expect it will take several years to implement a permanent solution.
The current cost estimate for this project is $1,000,000. This cost estimate reflects the best information we have at this time, and is subject to change based on changes in scope, availability of grant funding, inflation, etc.
