Service Changes Due to COVID-19
The Town Clerk’s Office is offering reduced services until further notice. Most services can be completed by email, online and via telephone.
Please call us at 802-264-5520 or email us at TownClerk@colchestervt.gov so we can assist in providing our services to you remotely. The following service areas will operate on a modified basis:
Assessment Data and Parcel Maps are available during regular business hours by phone 802-264-5671 or by email, Colchesterassess@colchestervt.gov. You can also access parcel maps, property data and print property record cards from the Town’s on-line GIS map at http://www.axisgis.com/ColchesterVT/ .
Land Records and Surveys research and copies may be obtained through www.uslandrecords.com. This online service can provide researching back to 1922 at no cost including unofficial copies. Official copies are $3 per page. Our Land Records are available at https://colchestervt.gov/653/Land-Records.
Vital Records (birth, death and marriage records) require an application and proof of identity. This process can be completed by mail or email. Information about the process, including application for these records is available at: https://colchestervt.gov/332/Vital-Records. If you need assistance, please call us at 802-264-5520.
Dog Licensing is due by April 1st . You can obtain a new license by sending your dog’s rabies certificate by US Postal mail along with the $15 fee to us at 781 Blakely Rd., Colchester, VT 05446. You could email the rabies certificate to TownClerk@colchestervt.gov and pay by credit/debit online at https://colchestervt.gov/323/Dog-Licensing. You can ask your veterinary offices to email or fax your pooch’s rabies certificate directly to us. During this time of social isolation and our daily focus on more important matters, we will waive the late penalty of $5 until June 30th.
Property Tax information is available during regular business hours (M-F, 7:30am – 4:30pm) by or telephone, 264-5520 or email, TownClerk@colchestervt.gov. Please pay by mail or use our outside secure drop box for payments. We are able to provide tax bill and payment reports via email or give information over the phone. Marriage Licensing will be temporarily suspended.
Notary Services are suspended until further notice.
Issuance of Passports & Passport Photos and Green Mountain State Park Passes by the Town are temporarily suspended.
Issuance of Dept of Motor Vehicles registration renewals by the Town are temporarily suspended. Information is available at the VT Dept. of Motor Vehicles webpage https://dmv.vermont.gov/registrations/renew to renew by mail, phone, and online.
