1. Call Meeting to Order: Chairman Romond called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.

2. Roll Call: Members Present: Bill Romond, Pat Kearney, Steve Kruger, Moe Germain, Betty Carvellas, Rene Peterson, Don Sargent, John Nichols, Karen Bates

3. Approval of Minutes - September 11, 2002

Mr. Germain made a motion to approve the minutes of September 11, 2002. Ms. Carvellas seconded the motion and it passed.

4. New Business:

Karen Bates reviewed the Water Quality Standards. She suggested that a discussion take place with the Town regarding the option of using the EPA's standard instead of the State's for beach closures. Don Sargent suggested that Colchester and adjacent towns petition the State to change the existing standard. The EPA's standard is around a count of 250. Karen Bates feels we should urge the community to petition the State to update the standards to reflect a more conclusive, scientific evaluation.

5. Other Business:

Consideration of implementation steps for Land use Strategies were reviewed.

Rene Peterson's letter to the editor will be sent for publication.

6. Set Next Meeting Date and Meeting Location

The next meeting will take place at the Meeting House on October 9, 2002 at 6:30 p.m.

7. Adjournment

Having no further business to discuss, the CWQC adjourned at 8:10 p.m.
