Low Impact Development Design Strategies - An integrated Design approach Prepared by the Prince George’s County, Maryland Department of Environmental Resources Programs and Planning Division 9400 Peppercorn Place Largo Maryland 20774, published in January 2000. It covers site planning Hydrology, Distributed IMP Technologies, Erosion and Sediment Control and Public Outreach. It is a very comprehensive manual recommended for consultants and commissions and others that are serious about low impact development. It is available at the Burnham Library

Keuka Lake lies in upper New York State’s Finger Lakes Region. The Lake and its watershed provide water for more than 20,000 people over 10,000 of whom live on the lake’s shore. This lake borders 8 municipalities and two counties. The region is very rural with agriculture and tourism providing the main sources of Revenue. The area offers excellent opportunities for boating, fishing and swimming: The economic value of such activities is of the order of $50 million annually. The market value of shoreline property is estimated to be nearly $1 billion, constituting by far the largest share of the municipalities’ tax base.
      The site explains the problems they encountered with water quality and how they solved or are solving each issue. If you are interested in the water quality of Malletts Bay you may want to consider visiting this site.
