William & Ama Munson Homestead & Tavern
Wolcott's Tavern 1814 - 1842
Mallett's Bay House ca. 1867
This saw and grist mill was built in the early 1800's on Indian Brook on the Old Country Road by William Hine and his son Hezekiah.
The original mill building burned in 1870 and was rebuilt by Raleigh Wright. The mill was in production until the early 1940's.
The pond remains much the same today as it was when the mill was in operation.
This mill was also built on Indian Brook in the early 1800's adjacent to the William Munson homestead. It apparently fell down due to disrepair.
It was not uncommon to have a family bolster their base income by providing room and board supplemented with spirits.
Located at the corner of East and Depot roads, the tavern served as a center for information as well as providing lodging in a large dormitory type room on the second floor.
The Inn stood on Malletts Bay Road at the shopping center location across from what is Mazza's Country store today.
