NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS IN THE TOWN OF COLCHESTER

The Town of Colchester’s 2011 Town-Wide Reappraisal is coming to a close. The Vision Appraisal Company is sending letters to all residential, residential condo, vacant land, and mobile home property owners in the Town of Colchester containing their preliminary assessment values.  Preliminary notices for the commercial, industrial and waterfront properties will be sent out the week of May 16th. Values are based on the conditions of the property as of April 1, 2011.   These letters are not a tax bills.  

You may call Vision Appraisal at 1-888-844-4300 weekdays, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. should you desire an appointment for an informal hearing with a Vision Appraisal representative. These informational hearings are not an assessment appeal hearings. Informational hearing will be held at the town Meeting House at 898 Main Street starting on May 17th.  Property data can be accessed on-line at http://data.visionappraisal.com/colchestervt/DEFAULT.asp   Property owners can review their assessments and assessment data and make comparisons with their neighbor’s assessments and data. It is recommended by the Assessor’s Office that you make comparisons and notify the Vision Appraisal Co. of any discrepancies. A listing of all proposed values will be available at the Town Offices and the Public Library.  The official “Change of Assessment Notice” will be mailed after the informational hearings in early June 2011 per Title 32 V.S.A. 4111 and 3756.
