Volunteers are a crucial aspect of many Vermont organizations, and the Town of Colchester's municipal government is no exception.
Volunteers supplement the work of full- and part-time staff with activities such as coaching for recreation programs and shelving books at the library; by providing guidance and expertise for the town's present and future by serving on numerous boards and committees; and by keeping us safe by serving as rescue and fire personnel.
Those of us who work for the Town of Colchester are grateful to the many people who choose to share their time and energy with the rest of the community.
The Burnham Memorial Library is greatly dependent on the generous help that it receives from volunteers. Our volunteers shelve books, pick up from the drop boxes, repair books, help with special projects, and more.
Here in Colchester, we are lucky enough to have three fire companies that protect the people, homes, and businesses within our town. The fire companies, which are listed below, are always looking for prospective members to join their capable and dedicated ranks.

The Colchester Rescue Squad (CRS) provides emergency medical services to the town of Colchester, Vermont. Like many of the rescue squads in Vermont, CRS is staffed primarily by volunteers trained in emergency medicine. Of our roughly 40 members, only 5 are Town staff.
